Voivod’s first time in Serbia!
Legendary Canadian four-piece band Voivod will play in Belgrade, Serbia for the very first time! Funny enough, the concert will be held on October 5th, the day we Serbs remember pretty well. The opening act is Earth Ship, stoner/sludge metal band. Voivod is one of the most influental and yet one of the most underrated bands in the history of thrash metal. Coming from Canada, the band has grasped the essential fears of the Cold War era. Pretty much, their entire discography is based on nuclear war, aliens and other wicked stuff. Present day line-up consists of Michel Langevin (“Away” ) on drums, Denis Belanger (“Snake” ) on vocals, Dan Mongrain (“Chewy” ) on guitar and Steve Hill (“Rocky”) on bass. Their new guitarist Daniel Mongrain seems like perfect replacement for the irreplaceable guitar god, Denis D’Amour (“Piggy”). Dan is better known for playing in bands like Martyr, Cryptopsy, Gorguts, Quo Vadis and this guy is surely not to be underestimated. His guitar virtuosity was tested on two latest Voivod releases – Target Earth (2013) and Post Society EP (2016). We also had an opportunity to do an interview with him a few years back so check it out!
I guess everyone is looking forward to a new Voivod album which is supposed to be recorded in August. And don’t forget to check out Away’s latest project – Tau Cross who have just released a new album - Pillar of Fire out via Relapse Records!
